Hello Everyone,
It is a pleasure to make your acquaintances! My name is Kripa Shakya, born and raised in the capital city of Nepal. “Nepal?” Some of you might be wondering where that is? I’m sure everyone must have heard of Mt. Everest. Yes! It’s in Nepal and that’s where I’m from. It is a small, but a beautiful country located in the South-east Asia; sandwiched between India and China. ;)
I’ve been studying as an international student in the United States for three years now, and to be apart from the country I was born in, most importantly family and friends is very stressful at times. However, I find myself very lucky to have an opportunity to study in such a renowned school and live in such a wonderful city, New York. Moreover, I love the fast pace and fun lifestyle of the city, and the diversity is just amazing. I love hanging out and knowing the culture of the people from all around the world.
In addition, my major is Computer Information System (CIS) and planning to minor in either Photography or Information Technology and Social Responsibility. In fact I recently changed my major from Accounting to CIS. Two years into the major and I realized Accounting is definitely not meant for me. Hence, I am in the process of pursuing a career in CIS and having a time of my life along the way!
Kripa

Hi Kripa, I actually really enjoyed reading your entry and it's so great to see an international student take to new surroundings as well as you've done. Furthermore, it seems we're sort of in the same boat with our initial majors but oddly enough, I can't seem to decide whether I want to switch from Accounting onto something else or just try to pace myself through it. I've come to see that perhaps Accounting isn't for me either and after taking a CIS course, you may have a point in changing your mind to it. I guess you've actually kind of inspired me so thank you, lol. :)
ReplyDeleteHey! It's amazing to know how far you've come Kripa. It's truly an inspiration. I've got to say, like Melana, it seems I have some similarities with you. Like you, I also was intitially planning on an Accounting major. I also changed to CIS-- go figure. lol. Perhaps,we'll see eachtother in future classes. Keep living the dream. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteDear Kripa,
ReplyDeleteI love how you started your blog Nepal because many people really have no idea where that is. I’m heading out there in May for some traveling and chillin’, maybe you can share some more about culture and what places are worth spending more time in.
All the best,
Juelz
It must be a great experience being able to attend school in a completely different country yet must be extremely difficult to be so far from home. Like a lot of others have commented, I am an accounting major but I am also considering switching to perhaps Marketing. Accounting is so boring and like you said, I don't think it is for me either. Have fun enjoying your time in New York!!
ReplyDeleteHey Kripa! I enjoyed reading your post about yourself. I've heard a lot about Nepal and have always wanted to visit there some time in my life. I'm glad you're enjoying the city your living in now and wish you the best in the new path your taking with CIS.
