In the process of accomplishing my vision...

Vision without action is just a dream.
Action without vision merely wastes time.
Vision coupled with action can make things happen!

This is exactly what my parents remind me time and often.
Education has always been one of my top priorities. I always had a vision of furthering my studies abroad: US being my first choice, Australia the second and London the third. There was a high possibility of my visa being rejected because my sisters were here and if I showed their documents then it would be assumed that I have my family members here and I won't return back to my country. My friend was in the same situation, and she did not get the visa. Her case made me more nervous because my case was even worse because I have two sisters here. However, I did not loose hope, I was determined to get the visa anyhow, showed both my sister's documents and prepared myself fully for the interview. Nevertheless, I had to give 15 minutes interview and luckily I was issued the visa. That moment was like a dream come true to me!

First of all, coming to US was the stepping stone of my career. My life has changed so much in these three years and there is yet a lot of room for improvement! I am really not sure where I am going to be in 10 years. However, I have made a vague outline of my career. For now, I want to graduate with a good grade and gather some working experience under my OPT (Optional Training Program), then I plan on doing my masters. Now, in order to achieve this goal I need to work really really hard. Going to class everyday, studying hard, doing homeworks on time, finding good internships, networking and being socially active are some of the building blocks of my career.
Thats my plan for 5 years now. After that, god knows! I might be here with a decent job/a decent paycheck and settle down in California, or go back to my country.

Moreover, I would like to travel around the world. I have always been interested in learning new cultures. I think one of the benefits of living in New York is that you get to meet people from all over the world. Some of the places I would loved to visit are London, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Bali, South Africa, Thailand, Miami, Hawaii, Tahiti and the list goes on...

  1. Kirpa, Travelling around the world is one of my goals too. I have visited some of the places that you have mentioned and London is in my next adventure list. If things go well the way I planned, my dream of visiting London will be accomplished by coming summer.

  2. Receiving a visa to the USA or traveling to another country can be very significant in one’s life. I am happy that you tried to pursue your dreams even though you knew it will be difficult. Your story is just another example that nothing is impossible and deeming big means “living big.”

  3. I hope to visit more of the world as well! I have been lucky and have been able to visit quite a bit of Western Europe, however, I would like to visit much more remote places and places that I don't know much about. The whole process of immersing yourself in a culture is so enriching and amazing. I hope that you will be able to visit at least some of these places soon.

  4. I would love to travel the world too. Hopefully, I'll have enough money to go everywhere I would like to go to. As of now, I have neither the time nor money to go to my dream destinations so living in New York will do for now. And since education is very important to you, traveling is a must because you can learn about the culture and history of different countries.
